Under the Ras AI Khaimah Trade Mark Act 1974 issued by the Chamber of Commerce, trade/service marks registrations were being processed through the Ras AI Khaimah Trade Mark Office. However, when the new Federal Law No. 37 was introduced in 1992, with respect to trademarks in the United Arab Emirates, and which came into force on 13 January 1993, no further filing actions were to be assigned to Ras AI Khaimah Trade Mark Office. As a result, registrations that were processed by the former Trade Mark Office in Ras AI Khaimah, were considered ineffective and thus, such registrations should be re-registered with the Trade Mark Office of the Ministry of Economy and Trade in Abu Dhabi. However, those certificates of registration which were issued by the Ras AI Khaimah Trade Mark Office may be used to claim priority for new applications to be re-registered with the Abu Dhabi Trade Mark Office.
